Donald Stokes Redabaugh, 89, died on July 10, 2008 in Loveland, Colorado. Born January 4, 1919, in Berthoud, Colorado, he was the younger brother Stokes and Bertha Kibby RedabaughGÇÖs two children. Don was raised on a farm in Larimer County. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1937 where he was all-conference in football and track. He attended the Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, where he was a track star, class officer, and belonged to several honorary fraternities. The most important event in his life: married Violet Schuler of Canon City, Colorado on May 4, 1941. They were married for 67 years. After teaching school for one term at La Porte, he entered the service of the Army Air Corp, serving 3 years as an airplane mechanic in England with the 389th B-24 Bomb Group. After the war, he received a B.A. degree from the Colorado State College of Education. He taught one more term at Kearney, Nebraska, then returned to Fort Collins, where he earned a degree in Agronomy from Colorado A&M. For 21 years he was a field man for Great Western Sugar Company in Fort Collins and Windsor. He then spent 10 years as a field man for Production Credit in Fort Collins before retiring in 1982. He was a 50 member of Lodge Elks 804 of Fort Collins and a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Collins where he served as church Trustee for 2 terms. After retirement, he and his wife spent 12 winters as GÇ£snow-birdsGÇ¥ in Mesa, Arizona at GÇ£Fountain of the Sun.GÇ¥ He also volunteered at the Senior Center and Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. His interests centered on athletic events: golf, Broncos football, fishing, and helping his children with their projects. He is survived by his wife Violet Redabaugh, son Gary Redabaugh Carol of Broomfield, daughter Donna Fogel Jerry of Tucker, Georgia, and daughter Roene Fuller Larry of Belen, New Mexico. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. His brother, Harold, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Fort Collins. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Fort Collins or the Lodge Elks 804 of Fort Collins in car of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
