Donald Ray Oppie

Donald Ray Oppie was born in Loveland, Colorado on May 16, 1960 to Helen Oppie. At 3 days old he was adopted by his Uncle Ray Richard Oppie and Betty Jean Oppie. Donny passed away at UC Health Poudre Valley Hospital on July 26, 2026. He was 66 years old.

Donny married the love of his world Karel Jayne Renz on January 30, 1982, at Sweetheart Chapel, Loveland Colorado.

On July 2, 1982 they had their first child Allen Ray Oppie and then their second child Jayme Abigail Oppie on November 2, 1985. Both of the kids were born at Poudre Valley Hospital.

Don was a hard worker and provided for his family. He spent many years working with wood, and knife grinding creating custom millwork and doors for Platte Valley Lumber, BMC West, and Shadd-Millwork. He was also a gifted handyman, which he totally loved. Don was known for being able to accomplish most any type of many fixer upper projects, that Karel would hint at. One other thing that he was Security Officer with his dog Sandy.

Don loved the mountains, camping, fishing, country dancing, animals, and car shows. Hanging with friends and family was the joy of his life.

He also became a grandfather for the 1st time in June 8, 2004 to Jaylan Evan Oppie. Then came Cyerra Jean Oppie, November 21, 2005. Kia and Issac were born December 12, 2007 and adopted by Josh and Michelle Sauerwein. And then came Jayse Edwyn Oppie on November 10, 2014. These kids were the best thing that happened to him as this gave him life.

In February 2024 Don was diagnosed with liver cancer and lung cancer and was treated, 2 ½ years later he was diagnosed with liver cancer on the other side and adrenal cancer. He fought long and hard, out living what the doctors thought.

He is survived by his loving wife Karel, son Allen, daughter Jayme, grandson Jaylan (Maddie), Kia, Issac, and Jayse, and granddaughter Cyerra. Also, his sister Sheryl Newman. Along with his dog Rosie who truly misses him. He is proceeded by his mother Helen, adopted father Ray Richard Oppie and Betty Jean McDanial (Jones, Mark, Oppie) One sister Sherry Brooks and all of his grandparents.
