Dinah Lee Kittel, 76, of Laporte, died October 15, 2016 at her home gracefully and peacefully, surrounded by her family. Dinah was born in Fort Collins on November 10, 1939 to Joseph Miller and Ruth Petit Miller. Dinah graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1957. She then married her high school sweetheart, Harvey Leroy Kittel on September 24, 1957. They then lived in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina while Harvey was in the Army, Special Forces as a paratrooper. Dinah worked at a laundry while they were in Ft. Bragg. They had their first child, Toni, while they were in Ft. Bragg. They then moved back to Ft. Collins and Dinah helped Harvey run the Scout 66 Filling Station. In 1967 their second daughter, Valery was born. 1976 was when they purchased Vern's Place. Dinah devoted most of the rest of her life to the day to day operations of the restaurant, while raising her two girls. Vern's is still owned by Dinah's family where she worked with them until months before her death.
Dinah was a person of strong faith and a devout member of Resurrection Fellowship in Loveland where she served as a greeter for many years. Dinah enjoyed shopping and collecting vintage hats. She was known as a person of great style and grace. Her grace surrounded others with a tremendous feeling of peace. This was especially felt during the last months of her life.
Survivors include her daughter; Valery and husband, Nick, their two children, Mitchell and Mykel of Ft. Collins; as well as Toni's children, Kara, Dianna, Johnny, Laina, and Andrew; one great-grandchild, Zachary; her sister-in law and dear friend, Harriet Bliss.
Preceding Dinah in death are her parents, husband, Harvey; a daughter, Toni Todd; and grandson, Tommy Woodruff.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or the American Cancer Society, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
