Dick Martin Kindsfather, 60, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away December 16, 2013 in Thornton, Colorado. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, April 11, 1953 to Robert and Fern Kindsfather. He valued and appreciated his German and Native American heritage from each parent. The majority of Dick's childhood was spent happily growing up in the mountains west of Fort Collins. He attended Poudre Park, Barton, and Stove Prairie Elementary Schools, and Poudre High School. On August 4, 1972, he married the love of his life, Janet Christine "Chris" Wootton. Dick was a gifted singer, song writer, and guitar player. He and Chris both loved music and singing and traveled together--and later with a band--to many churches, events, and gatherings across the state of Colorado. Among his many passions in life were hunting, fishing, and spending time with a multitude of four-legged creatures—large and small—that all found their way into his heart…and he into theirs. Dick was a giver, not a taker; a caregiver, a confidant, a counselor, a comforter, a listener, and a good friend to many. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Chris Kindsfather of Fort Collins, CO; mother-in-law, Donna Kilpatrick of Golden City, MO; brother Robert Kindsfather and wife Ruth, of Bellvue, CO; sister Sharon Muirhead and husband Larry, of Bellvue, CO; sister Judy Rogers and husband Charles, of Wellington, CO; sister-and-brother-in law Terri and Dave Vroman of Gypsum, CO; brother-and-sister-in-law Randy and Roxie Wootton of Bellvue, CO; brother-and-sister-in-law James and Phyllis Smith of Fort Collins, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides; and a great host of special friends from work and neighbors from his community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fern Kindsfather, and father-in-law Jay Smith. A funeral service is scheduled for December 23, 2013, 10:30 a.m., Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins, CO; internment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, CO. Contributions may be made to the Dick Kindsfather Memorial Fund, c/o Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
