Dick Jones, 59, died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007. Richard Louis Jones was born Feb. 24, 1948, in Fort Collins, to Floyd I. and Pearl Mae Jones and lived his entire life in Fort Collins. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1966 and attended CSU and UNC. In March 1992 he married Patricia Alger Peterson in Las Vegas, Nev. As a high school senior he began his 38-year career with Walgreen's drugstore and at the time of his death he was the manager at the Drake Crossing Store in Fort Collins. Dick was a true gentleman and a generous friend and mentor to many. He loved his English, Gordon, and Irish setters, and his passions included cars, fishing, camping, and poker. He was the ultimate host and warmly welcomed all of his many friends into his home to share a kind word and the hard earned bounty of his work. Just as he lived his life with generosity towards others, at the time of his untimely death he was engaged in an act of kindness, clearing his driveway so a friend could reach his home. He will be missed by many including his lifelong "brothers" in Fort Collins and beyond. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones; brother, Paul Jones Lonnie, nephew, Maj. Derek Jones; niece, Tia Jones Wolkov; aunts; uncles; and innumerable special friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Larimer County Humane Society care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. His friends and colleagues are invited to attend a memorial service for Dick at 1 p.m., on Saturday, at the Canyon West Room at the Fort Collins Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia St. in Fort Collins.
