Diane Leslie Moore moved on to less painful climes on Sept. 22, 2008. She was a powerhouse of humor, labor and simple enjoyment in being alive. She had a way of popping back up after being knocked down, time and again. She had a way of turning the general roughness of her life into hilarity and drama, telling personal stories that some thought were stretches sometimes they were. Mainly, it was just that she was fully present, in the living and in the telling. She raised one fine son-through two eventful marriages-and helped raise a third husband through his continuing growth over 26 years. She helped channel two seriously abused foster boys toward a better life. She was a willing and proud worker and had a variety of jobs; factories, offices, outdoor work and then some. From California to Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, 11 years in Alaska her favorite place, and finally back to the families' both Mom's and Dad's home region in Colorado-around LaPorte and Fort Collins-it was quite a life for 66 years. And underneath all the bluster and activity, there was a deep warmth of love abiding. Leslie is survived by her husband, Raybo; her son, Sam Scruggs of Dallas; her sister, Janet Iverson of Fort Collins; her brother, George VerStraeten of Fort Collins; and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. There will be a Celebration of Leslie's Life starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5th at her home in LaPorte, 2708 N. Overland Trail next to the P.O.
