Derek Christian Cox, 37, of Wellington, died October 8, 2011 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Derek was born August 20, 1974 in Denver, Colorado to Nadine Brienza Cox of Wellington, and Jack W. Cox of Fort Worth, Texas. Derek lived in the Wellington area for 13 years. He was an architect by trade. Derek lived a very active life and a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, rock climbing, hiking, fishing and a short time bareback riding. He had a great love of music and dance. Derek volunteered at Fort Collins High School with special needs kids, was active in his church, and was a youth leader. Derek loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was devoted to his Christian faith. Derek's dedicated family and support include his mother and father; identical twin brother, David Cox of Windsor; sisters, Stacey Nelson of Westminster and Scotti Hollingsworth of Fort Collins; grandparents, George Brienza of Denver, Colorado and Joycie Cox of Plainfield, Connecticut. A celebration of Derek's life will be held at LifePointe Church, 900 E. Prospect on Friday at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will be held. Pastor Dan Gardinier will officiate the service.
