Derald Clevenger passed away to join his wife of 60 years on February 24, 2009. Derald was born on June 4, 1920 in Haxton to Clara and Arthur Clevenger. He met Shirley in Sterling in January of 1941 and they were married on March 23 of that same year. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roy Clevenger; and eight brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his immediate family; daughter, Norma Sturdevant and husband Roger; and grandsons, Ryan and Jason of Clovis Calif. He is also survived by his extended local family, the Colby Van Cleave family; and special friends, the Linda Curthroy family; and several nieces and nephews; as well as many close friends. Derald farmed and fed cattle in the Fort Collins community for over 60 years. He was on the board of directors of the local Farm Bureau and Poudre Valley Co-op, and was a member of the Immanuel Community Church where he attended regularly. He was proud to be a World War II veteran. Derald took care of his wife, Shirley, for 5 years while she suffered from Alzheimer's so she could stay at home. He was able to live his life out at home as well, with the great care of Home Instead Sr. Care and Front Range Hospice. Farewell. He will be missed. A graveside service with military honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard, will be held 3 p.m. Friday, at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held, 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Pastor Paul McGraw, a long time family friend, will officiate at the services. A reception will be held at the T-Bar restaurant in Wellington immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in his honor.
