Denee Robinson Jex, age 73, passed away on August 24, 2026, following her battle with cancer.
Denee was born on June 26, 1953, in Afton, Wyoming, to R. Dean Robinson and Ramona McClure Robinson. Her family soon moved to San Francisco while her father attended dental school, and she later grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, where her father established his dental practice. She attended Brigham Young University, where she worked toward a degree in nursing.
Denee married Fred Jex and devoted much of her life to being a mother and homemaker. She also worked as a tutor for schoolchildren and later as a property manager for a private estate in Aspen, Colorado. Denee and Fred raised five children. During those years, the family lived in North Salt Lake, Utah; Louisville, Fort Collins, and Carbondale, Colorado. Denee later lived in Orem, Utah, where she cared for her aging parents. Her selfless care for them through the end of their lives was a testament to the depth of her love. She truly wore herself out caring for those around her.
Music was an important part of Denee’s life. She loved playing the piano and acoustic guitar and had a beautiful singing voice. She performed as a soloist and in ensembles throughout high school and later especially enjoyed singing with the Choice City Singers in Fort Collins.
More than anything, Denee loved big. She was always willing to serve in her church and worked closely with Spanish-speaking members of her congregation while living in Carbondale. Denee will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, resilience, and willingness to care for others. She treasured the time she spent in Star Valley, Wyoming, with her extended family—a place that remained special to her from childhood throughout her life.
Denee faced years of physical hardship, including fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and ultimately cancer. Through those difficult experiences, she demonstrated remarkable strength and endurance. Even as chronic pain and illness caused her world to become smaller during the later years of her life, she continued to ask about her children and grandchildren and wanted to know what was happening in each of their lives. Being a mother and grandmother was central to who she was.
Her family is grateful that her suffering has ended and finds comfort in her faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and the knowledge that she has now been taken home.
Denee is survived by her five children: Sjani Boggs and her husband, Ryan, and their children, Atticus and Eleanor; Myra Jex and daughter Madisyn Owens; Eliza Jex; David Jex and his wife, Erin, and their children, Carson, Emma, and Joely; and Justin Jex and his wife, Gretchen, and their children, Lucas, Austin, and Alexis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R. Dean and Ramona Robinson; her brothers, Mark and Lyman Robinson; and Fred Jex.
We love you, Mom, and thank you for loving us BIG.
A private graveside service will be held for Denee’s immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Denee’s memory to Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins, Colorado, in gratitude for the compassionate care provided during the final chapter of her life.
