Delphine Richards of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on November 6, 2017.

Jessie Delphine French was born on November 13, 1916 near Olpe, Kansas. On October 27, 1935 she married Roy E. Richards. After they were married they spent 2 ½ years living in Council Grove, Kansas before returning to a live on a farm near their home town of Madison, Kansas.

The couple had two children, son Kenneth Richards and daughter Myrna Richards Reid. In 1947, Delphine and Roy sold the farm and moved into town where they purchased a variety store. They operated Richards Variety Store until 1959 when they sold the store and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado.

In Fort Collins, Delphine worked for the State Dry Goods Company until 1958. Shortly after, she and friend June Olgesby started a children's wear shop, The Cradle Shop at 145 North College Avenue in Downtown Fort Collins. In 1980, they sold the shop and Delphine retired.

Delphine was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth and wife, Mary Lou Richards of Loveland, Colorado; daughter, Myrna and husband, Robert Reid of Sunnyvale, California; grandson, Greg and wife, Valarie Richards of Loveland, Colorado; granddaughter, Lauren Reid of Oakland, California; great-granddaughters, Taryn and Kyanne Richards of Loveland, Colorado; and great-grandson, Scott Schriefer of Wichita, Kansas.

Delphine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and granddaughter, Galen K. Reid.

She dearly loved her family and friends and enjoyed fixing family dinners. She will be so missed by all who knew her. Thanks to the staff and friends at Columbine West for making her last three years just so great.

Delphine was seven days shy of 101-years-old.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
