Delma "Speed" Edna Stallings of Fort Collins, formerly of Laramie, Wyo., died Feb. 15, 2007, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. Mrs. Stallings was born May 8, 1919, in Laramie, Wyo., to Amiel and Edna Rae Hunziker, in the home of her grandparents. She graduated from Laramie High School in 1936. After graduation she worked various jobs in Laramie. At a dance in Woods Landing, Wyo., she met a young man from Texas in the CCC named George Stallings. They were married in Fort Worth, Texas, on Feb. 21, 1942. When George was drafted into the army for WW II service, she followed him to camps in Missouri, Massachusetts, and Florida and upon his going to the Pacific Theatre, she returned to Laramie. Her first son, Galen D. was born on July 4, 1944. When George was discharged, they began their life together in Laramie with him as an electrician and she as a homemaker. Their second son, Daryl K., was born Aug. 18, 1947. They bought a lot and survived barely building their own home in Laramie. She became a Christian in her 30s and attended various churches in Laramie. A third son, Theron N. was born June 18, 1959. She enjoyed organic gardening, but wished for a longer growing season than Wyoming could offer. She belonged to the garden club, winning many ribbons in the annual garden show. Trips to the mountains were always enjoyed. She enjoyed helping other people with nutritional and spiritual counsel. Mrs. Stallings moved to Fort Collins in 2004 to be near her family and attended Front Range Baptist Church. As her health declined her daughter-in-law, Janene and friend, Kelly Acevas provided exceptional care. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, George; and a son, Daryl. Survivors include her sons, Galen Stallings and his wife, Barbara, of Prunedale, Calif. and Theron Stallings and his wife, Janene, and nine grandchildren, Brandon, Grayson, Preston, Dustin, Quentin, Colin, Weston, Stephen, and Cameron, all of Fort Collins, who will all miss her, but are glad she is with her savior and Lord and can now see, hear and move again freely. Delma is also survived by a sister, Lois Hunziker and brother, Dell Hunziker. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Front Range Baptist Church, 625 E. Harmony Road. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m., Tuesday, in Laramie, Wyo., at Green Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Redlin will officiate at the services. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Contributions may be made to the Front Range Baptist Church Missions Program, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Friends may send condolences to the family at
