Listen to Obituary
Delbert L. Carr of Fort Collins, Colorado was born to William Richard and Bertha Elaine Carr on November 2, 1934 in Saint Joseph, Missouri and passed away October 19, 2016. After graduating from high school in 1953 in Julesburg, Colorado, he served for four years in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. After the Navy, he returned to Fort Collins where he raised his family. Del worked for Laporte's Cement Plant, Woodward Governor, and lastly was an apartment manager for 19 years at Matador Apartment Complex in Fort Collins before retiring.

Del met Mary Anne at a wedding in South Dakota and asked her to marry him that night. They were fortunate enough to celebrate 60 years of marriage on September 5, 2016. Dad is survived by his five children, Doug (Mona) and family, Randy (Jerri) and family, Terry (DeEtta) and family, Kristi Herin (John) and family, and Kathi Slavik (John) and family which includes 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Del's lifelong friends were Don and Joyce Felske (Loveland), Elmer and Dee Fortin (Fort Collins), Delbert and Pat Hillyer (Julesburg), and Bernard and Eileen Radke (Springfield, MO). He is preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and Jerry Carr.

Dad's passion for creativity came out in so many ways! He was a wood worker, artist, author and sculptor. He was a regular volunteer in Poudre School District and helper to all! Mr. Del was well known for his time spent reading and sharing his love of art with countless students. He had a God given talent to make things work when no one else could get it done correctly.

Del was known for being absolutely devoted to his family, and it was clear to anyone who knew him that the pride and love he felt for his children, grand-children and great grand-children was immeasurable. We will miss him dearly, but will pass on his love of family to continue his legacy. The lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him will never be the same without him, and though gone from this world, he will forever be in our thoughts, memories and prayers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at 301 East Stuart Street, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
