David Jan Manning, M.D., 51, of Fort Collins, died Jan. 9, 2006, in Greeley, the result of a pedestrian/vehicle accident. Dr. Manning was born March 31, 1954, in Garden City, N.Y., to Dr. Irving Manning and Irene Gizelba Manning. David was raised in Bay Shore, N.Y. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., with his medical degree, and then completed his residency at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Manning was an orthopedic surgeon and had successful medical practices in Racine, Wis.; Los Alamos, N.M.; and Honolulu, Hawaii, prior to joining the Greeley Medical Clinic on March 2, 2002. Dr. Manning was on the Medical Executive Committee at North Colorado Medical Center and had an orthopedic practice at Greeley Medical. David had many passions; his children; the practice of orthopedics, downhill skiing, renovating his 1983 911 Porsche Targa SC, science fiction books, movies, Island music, flying airplanes, and scuba diving. He will be especially remembered for his sense of humor, witty sarcasm, and innuendos. He loved to travel and lived life fully. Surviving David are his wife of 28 years, Lynda Manning; one son, Samuel Manning, attending Webber Junior High School; a daughter, Kaitlyn Manning attending the University of Kansas; by his parents, Dr. Irving and Irene Manning of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, James Manning and family, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Richard Manning and family of Ottawa, Canada. A memorial service will be held at Foothills Unitarian Church, 1815 Yorktown, at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Marc Salkin will be officiating at the service.
