David Mark Halliburton was born in Denver,, on April 1, 1959. On January 16, 2026,
he passed at Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins. His parents, Wayne and Maureen Halliburton
already had sister Nancy and brother Wayne Jr. Dave brought the energy to complete the family.
Dave graduated from West High in Denver then migrated to Fort Collins in the 1979.
Dave was a talented photographer, baker, woodworker, log furniture maker, and a Vestas blade
builder. His photography focused on the outdoors and he conquered the intricacies of the
darkroom as well. He enjoyed origami. Dave wrote poems for Dee for Valentine's Days. He was
happiest when creating anything.
Dave met his wife, Deborah (Dee) Spaulding, when he bought her 21 year old Volvo. Dave loved
camping and Dee happily joined in. They married in 1997 and shared a really good life together.
It was the first and only marriage for each of them. They had no children, but many cats.
Dave and Dee also shared their interest in rocks and crystals with the Fort Collins Rockhounds
Club. Dave held Vice President and President positions at various times as well as chairing the
Fort Collins Rockhounds Annual Gem & Mineral Show for years. Among the Rockhounds, Dave
learned lapidary skills which led to learning the metalsmithing craft and many beautiful
creations.
Dave was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February, 2025. He battled hard as long as he
could with Dee by his side. Unfortunately, love and medical treatment were not enough to
conquer the evil that is cancer. On January 16, 2026, Dee was with him when Dave passed at
Pathways Hospice.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dee Spaulding, brother Wayne and his wife Candy, nieces Sara
Dewhurst and Erin Halliburton, and nephew Preston Halliburton.
There will be a memorial in spring, 2026.
