Listen to Obituary
Dave Mapes 51, passed away on November 27, 2017 at Medical Center of the Rockies. Dave was born to John "Skeet" Mapes and Ellyn F Trimble (Mapes) .

Declining heath took him to Heaven too soon. He is no longer in pain and that is a blessing.
Dave grew up in Wellington, CO and Fort Collins, CO and attended schools at Eyestone Elementary, Cache La Poudre Jr. High and Poudre High School. He left a wake of friends.
Is his adult years, Dave resided in Greeley, CO to be closer to his sisters and nephews. He was a special Uncle and more than his nephews called him "Uncle Dave".

Dave loved Texas and it was always his dream to reside there. He moved to Austin TX in 2010 transferring from State Farm in Greeley. He loved Austin and the area, but moved on to Houston TX and then to Las Vegas NV. After the great sorrow experienced in Las Vegas recently, Dave moved home to be closer to his mom, sisters and nephews.

Dave also loved the great Smokey Mountains and Dollywood in particular. At a point in the future his remains will be scattered near Pigeon Forge, TN. One of his greatest dreams was to be an entertainer at Dollywood, but it never came to pass. He had a wonderful voice and sang at many weddings and sadly a few funerals.

Dave had many special friends he leaves behind. His best friends, Jeff O'Neill, Kevin Haskell and Gabe Estala were more like brothers and took care of him in times of need, as well as his Mom, Ellyn Trimble or Greeley, CO and sisters Janey Landfair (Benny Allen Landfair) of Greeley, CO and April Mapes of Greeley, CO and his great cousin Davie Gibson of McLean TX. Dave leaves behind his nephews Jace Hansen, (fiancée-Taylor Mcleod) of Greeley, CO, Jodin Hansen of Windsor, CO and Brady Mapes of Greeley, CO and many aunts, cousins and relatives. He was preceded in death by his Father John "Skeet" Mapes III, his grandmother Helen Mapes, and his grandfather John Mapes Jr all of Fort Collins, CO.

The family would appreciate donations in lieu of flowers. Donations can be made to Dave's sister, Clara Janey Landfair (on behalf of the family), c/o Bohlenders Funeral Chapel 121 W. Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
