Darwin Henry Reuter passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. Born in 1933, in Elgin, Illinois, Darwin was the youngest of four; a sister, Elsie, and two brothers, Orville and Oliver. He lived a faithful life devoted to his family, his profession, and his country.
As a young man, following the example of his older brother’s service in World War II, Darwin honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he was the only one in his family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He went on to build a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant and was known for his honesty, sound judgment, and unwavering professionalism. He earned the trust and respect of clients, colleagues, and friends over many years of dedicated service.
The greatest blessing of Darwin's life was his family. After only knowing his beloved Mary Anna for three months, they got married and shared 66 wonderful years together. Darwin and Mary Anna opened their hearts through adoption, welcoming their son, Mark, and daughter, Stephanie.
Darwin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anna, in 2022, and granddaughter, Ashley, in 2023. He is survived by their children, Mark (Barbara) and Stephanie, along with grandchildren Jason (Carrie), Tim (Erin), Alyssa (Trevor), Madison (Tanner), and nine great-grandchildren. The family finds comfort in believing that Darwin and Mary Anna are reunited once again after a lifetime of love shared on earth.
Though Darwin's earthly journey has come to an end, he will be remembered not only for a lot of sarcasm, but what he accomplished, the kindness he showed, as well as his incredible memory, and endless stories he shared.
Matthew 11:28: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
