Darrell B. Schmer, 72, of Fort Collins, died October 13, 2010. Darrell was born on November 6, 1937 in Fort Collins to Henry Schmer and Dorothy Boyd. He lived his whole life in Fort Collins and was raised by his stepfather Ramond Miller and his mother Dorothy. Mr. Schmer married Nina Sexton on June 23, 1954. He was a crusher operator for Sterling Sand and Gravel. He enjoyed building cars, embroidery, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Over the years he and Nina sewed and embroidered several hundred quilts that they gifted to friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest daughter Roxanne. Survivors include his wife Nina; sons, Dean Carrie Schmer of Fort Collins, Dale Tammy Schmer of Hillrose, CO and Richard Sharon Schmer of Weldona, CO; daughter, Ronda Ted Smith of Spokane, WA; brothers, Don "Butch" Miller of Henderson, NV and Dennis "Denny" Miller of Houston, TX; a sister, Jana Shufflebarger of Prescott, AZ; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel with Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
