Darrell Jean Moote was born October 31, 1931, at Elizabeth, CO to Harold and Grayce (Brumbaugh) Moote. He spent most of his young life in Ft. Lupton and graduated from Ft. Lupton High School in 1950. In 1951 he married Charlene Reed in Platteville and they had three children, Larry, Anice, and Kevin. After a tour of duty in the Air Force in Oklahoma City, he moved with his family to California where they lived for 17 years, returning to Colorado in 1971. Darrell worked in the Auto Parts business for 30 years. In 1974 he married Marilyn Swank and together they owned and operated Mac's Picture Framing in Ft. Collins. They retired in 1996, and he spent his retirement traveling in their motorhome and escaped several winters by going South to AZ (he didn't like the snow.) He lived in Ft. Collins until 200l, when they moved to Greeley to be closer to their children. Darrell's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of his life. He always said his grandchildren were like the rainbow and his great grandchildren were like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He enjoyed golfing, boating and camping with his family, but his number one hobby was woodworking. He could build just about anything he wanted to, and fix or repair anything. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing, and was a member of the Elks Lodge for many years. He was a member of the Windsor Elm Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church.
