Darrel E. Engels

Darrel Engels, 88, passed from this life on July 8, 2013. He was born in Lehigh, Iowa on April 27, 1925, to Joseph and Elsie Engels. He grew up on his parents' farm in Vincent, Iowa, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1942. Darrel married the love of his life, Elnora Jensen, on August 20, 1944. Darrel and Elnora moved to Denver, Colorado right after they married where Darrel worked for 40 years at Wright and McGill as a machinist. After retiring, he wintered in Arizona and spent the summers in Ft. Collins. He loved to travel in his motorhome and was able to travel throughout the United States. In Arizona, he enjoyed square and ballroom dancing. He also enjoyed short hikes, river fishing, and playing cards. Darrel loved to tease and made many people smile. Darrel is survived by his wife, Elnora; as well as two children, Barb Blomberg Dave of Ft. Collins and Linda Kelley of Denver; three grandchildren, Ken Blomberg Brenda of Ft. Collins, Cindy Kelley and Jenny Stebritz Zach of Denver; three great grandchildren, Emily and Alyssa Blomberg, and Aryana Stebritz; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Pathways Hospice in care of the Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO, 80524. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
