Darlene Platt

Darlene R. Platt, 72, of the Poudre Canyon, formerly of Longmont, passed away on June 17, 2005 at her home in the mountains. She was born January 6, 1933 to George A. Johnson and Myrna W. Johnson in Ft. Collins. Darlene grew up in Ft. Collins, graduating from Ft. Collins High School. She attended Albion College in Michigan and C.S.U. in Ft. Collins. She married William Dave Platt in 1960 at the Poudre Chapel. They mad their home in Longmont. Darlene was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and League of Women Voters. She volunteered and served as president of the WomenGÇÖs Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in fund raising and was coordinator for the American Cancer Society. She also devoted time as a Campfire Girl leader. In 1984 she moved to the family cabin in the Poudre Canyon. She remained active in the Upper Poudre Community, as a member of UPCA, where she served as president, the FalconGÇÖs treasurer and an active member of the Poudre Canyon Chapel. She also worked at Rustic Resort, Glen Echo Resort, and Mountain Greenery. Darlene loved her birds, flowers, gardening, cooking, camping and fishing. She enjoyed traveling with Dave and making friends wherever they ventured. She never met a stranger. Darlene is survived by her loving husband Dave of the Poudre Canyon; daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Tom Norton of Bloomfield, New Mexico and two grandchildren, Josiah and Katrina Norton also of Bloomfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Thursday at the Poudre Canyon Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Darlene Platt Memorial Fund for Upper Poudre Canyon E.M.S. in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
