Listen to Obituary
Danny (Dan) Schroeder, 72 years young, departed this life for Heaven on April 23, 2026.

Born to Leo and Frances Schroeder on June 20, 1953, he was the oldest of 5 children. In 1971 he completed trade school for welding, going on to become a pipefitter by trade and work on major projects such as the construction of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. Dan was an incredibly hard worker who always went above and beyond to do things right the first time. After visiting Estes Park, CO in the 70's, he fell in love with the mountains and it became his dream to live there, which he accomplished and is where he spent most of the last 20 years of his life.

He was a larger-than-life man, known for his boisterous laugh, talking to people, and making new friends in the most random of places. Fiercely loyal and always there if you needed him, he was a wonderful friend and a great father. He loved animals as evidenced by his attempts to befriend the wildlife in the Rockies. If there is a western movie, he has seen it once or a dozen times, though John Wayne movies were his favorite. It was rare you would find him without cookies and Mountain Dew. What little time he spent relaxing included a John Wayne film on the TV while he was kicked back on the couch eating cookies and drinking a highball (Mountain Dew and Bourbon).

Dan is survived by his two sons, Derek and Christian, and his sisters. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and was followed to Heaven by his brother Mike, shortly after Dan's passing. Above all else, he was an incredible father whose love, care, and dedication cannot be described in a few simple words.

"My church has been the mountains and solitude. No doors at all."
- John Wayne as J.B. Books in The Shootist
