Danny James McGrew of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Timnath, and Walden, Colorado, age 68, died peacefully in his sleep on May 9, 2017.

He was born on November 8, 1948 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming to Ruth Marie Anderson and Kenneth Coleman McGrew. He grew up in Walden with his brother, Stan and his treasured grandmother, "Gram" (Johannah Anderson).

Dan married Janice Lynn Bauer of Steamboat Springs, CO on January 10, 1970 in Fort Collins. They had two children together, Laura (McGrew) McDonald, Niwot, CO, and Larry Lynn McGrew, Clinton, ME.

Dan married Jeannie Marilyn (Carle) McGrew of Loveland, CO on July 25, 1992 at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO. They were married nearly 25 years. He is survived by Jeannie and their five children and 10 grand children:

Daughter, Laura McDonald, husband Chris, and their children, Hannah and Joelle.
Son, Larry McGrew, wife, Lisa, and their son, Graylon.
Son, Jared Stanton, wife, Megan, and their children, Xander, Ainsley, and Oliver.
Daughter, Heather Binder and her children, Travis and Trever.
Daughter, Hillary Niebauer, husband, Joel, and their children, Abby and Rayen.

Dan graduated from North Park High School with the class of 1967. He was a wrestler on the first team fielded by North Park High School and the first Wildcat to place in a State District Meet. He also played basketball, football, baseball, and was accomplished at showing livestock.

He graduated from Colorado State University and started his life of Service in 1972 joining the CSU Police Department full time. Dan served as an officer for over 20 years. Dan activated as a Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed in December 1987 beginning a nearly 30 year career serving the investment and retirement goals of clients who called their advisor, "friend".

Dan served as a Larimer County 4H leader. He loved to dance with his wife. He excelled at photography, specializing in photos of his grandkids and as many bird species as he could find.

His primary love and passion was his family and living as a selfless example:

"(My family) guides my path. Every time I take a step there is a child or grandchild following those steps. People become what they see. If they see hate, they will hate. If they see love, they will love."

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Timberline Church in Fort Collins, CO. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who wish may view Dan from 5:00– 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to Team Fort Collins or the Larimer County 4H Foundation in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO, 80524.
