Daniel Alan Detamore, 78, of Windsor, formerly of Joshua Tree, California, passed away on September 28, 2025.
Dan was born in Bell, California on December 2, 1946, to Raymond Dwight Detamore and Eleanor Mae Parsons Detamore. He grew up in Woodland Hills, California and graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Navy in 1966 and served In the Mediterranean for four years. After he returned, he was set up on a blind date with Nancy Plett whom he would marry on May 29, 1971, in Woodland Hills. They had one son, Kenneth R. Detamore. Dan and Nancy eventually divorced but they remarried on March 10, 2003, in Bayfield, Colorado.
Dan worked as a lineman for General Telephone in Woodland Hills until he was transferred to Joshua Tree in the High Desert of California and then to Moorpark, California. After 20 years in Moorpark, the family moved to Bayfield, Colorado where Dan worked for Kroeger's True Value Hardware until his retirement.
Dan enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball, fishing on any reservoir he could, and camping, one of his favorite places to camp was Yosemite National Park. Dan also enjoyed model trains. He and his son Ken spent many years building a multi-level model train set in their garage.
Dan is survived by his son Ken of Windsor; a granddaughter, Rhianne Eleanor Detamore of Preston, ID; two brothers, Jerry Detamore of West Hills, CA and Bill Detamore of Woodland Hills. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his parents.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00pm, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Citylight Church, 833 S. Taft Hill Rd., Fort Collins CO 80525.
