On May 20, 2026, Dan Raymond Keyes, 71, of Chandler, Texas, peacefully stepped into the arms of Jesus. He was a quiet man with a generous spirit; redeemed by God for the purpose of upholding justice and righteousness. Dan summarized his life with these words etched onto his memorial stone, "Loved God, Loved Family. Blessed Be the Name of The Lord."
Dan was born to Frances Willoughby and Raymond Keyes on July 21, 1954, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Dan graduated from West High School in Bremerton, Washington in 1973, and enlisted in the United States Air Force as a security police specialist. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Buchanan, in 1974, and together raised five children. Dan was honorably discharged in 1979, and continued serving his country as a United States Deputy Marshal. He was dedicated to his profession, and earned The American Legion National Law Enforcement
Officer of the Year in 2011. Though he received many honors throughout his career, Dan chose to give God the Glory and, instead, brag about his family. He would often say his pride and joy was his wife and five children. Dan also enjoyed hiking, RV traveling, dry humor, and a good cup of coffee.
Dan is survived by Susan, his devoted wife of 52 years, and his five children, Shawn, Matthew, Kaitlin, Nathan, and Marin; and grandsons, Willem, Izaak, and Samuel.
Dan will be buried with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on June 1, 2026, followed by a celebration of Dan's life at the Dixon residence in Wellington, Colorado at 2:30 pm.
