DALE FRANCIS SHIPLEY, 77, loved by many, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009. He was born near Hoskins, Nebraska on September 17, 1931 the middle of five children, to Nan Lorenz and Earl Shipley. Dale married the love of his life, Elaine Mittelsteadt, on Christmas 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and was commissioned as an officer in 1957. During his 30 year military career, he served in Korea, Alaska, and Canada, and earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from CSU. He retired in Colorado and later returned to Fort Collins and CSU as a faculty affiliate, mentoring in the College of Business. His hobbies included skiing, golf, bridge, and travel with his wife and grandsons. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Elaine, their daughter, Susan Lamb, son-in-law, David Lamb, grandsons Andrew and Matthew, daughter-in-law Priscilla Dressen and grandson Alex, and brother, Delmar Shipley, all of Fort Collins, along with aunts, uncles and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Darlene Patterson, Lila Erickson, and brother, Alvin Shipley, and son, Michael Shipley. A funeral mass is planned for extended family and friends at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 5450 S. Lemay Avenueon Thursday, July 9, at 11am with luncheon to follow. Interment will occur at a later date in Norfolk, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in honor of Dale be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Building Fund, CSU College of Business, Pathways Hospice, or to the charity of your choice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
