Dale Alan Breyfogle
April 12, 2014 Dale A. Breyfogle, the youngest son of Melvin S. and Betty Lee Alice Bevins Breyfogle, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 after a two year battle with brain cancer. Dale was born January 7, 1951 in Estherville, Iowa and grew up in this small rural community. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1969 and then attended Western Technical College in Denver, CO to train as a certified auto mechanic. After several jobs in Iowa and California, Dale moved to Fort Collins in 1972 where he worked as a foreign sports car mechanic. Following a work related back injury Dale retrained as an electronic technician at Denver Institute of Technology and worked in that capacity for many years at Advanced Energy and later Hach Company in Fort Collins. When Advanced Energy took their production to China, Dale studied at Front Range Community College for engineering graphics and specialized in Computer Aided Design & Drafting CADD and was very happily employed at CPP Wind Engineering and Air Quality Consultants from 2006 to 2009. Dale enjoyed bicycling, running, and cross country skiing, and the Colorado Rockies provided a perfect backdrop for any outdoor activity that he pursued. His level of commitment to any one of these activities would be enough for most people, but for Dale everything he did in his life became more than an activity to pass time. Dale's greatest passion was the study and practice of the Buddhist faith and he had a pivotal role in the establishment of the Heruka Buddhist Center in Fort Collins. He made many friends as a result of his study and practice of Buddhism and this faith sustained him on this final journey. Dale is survived by his father, Melvin S. Breyfogle, Estherville, Iowa; his brothers, David Breyfogle, Baltimore, MD, Dan and his wife, Sandy Breyfogle, Mason City, IA, and Doug Breyfogle, Fort Dodge, IA; and nieces, Kirsten and her husband, Doug Prinn, Mindy and her husband, Jeff Griffith; nephews, Brian Breyfogle, Gary Breyfogle, and Chris Breyfogle. Dale is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Lee Alice Breyfogle and grandparents. The family wishes to offer our heartfelt thoughts to the Heruka Buddhist Center, Front Range Hospice, and the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of the Rockies for their care and support in his final days. A 2-hour Celebration of Life and Transference of Consciousness will begin at 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 19th at the Heruka Buddhist Center, 1700 S. College Ave, Fort Collins, CO. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Heruka Buddhist Center, 1700 S. College Ave, Fort Collins, CO or the Front Range Hospice Memorial Fund, PO Box 724, Erie, CO 80516.
