"Give my sins to the devil. Give my soul to God. If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you." Dale Alva Anderson passed peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was 94 years old. He was born on October 31, 1915, on the Anderson Family homestead in Lexington, Nebraska. During the course of his life he participated in bringing agriculture into the twentieth century. Starting in the fields with a horse drawn plow he ended his farming career using his favorite red 1964 'Harvester' tractor. He was a successful Stockman winning Grand Championships for his steers at the annual National Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. The influenza epidemic of 1917, killer tornados, dust bowl and great depression shaped his character as a young man. He adopted the principles of peaceful demonstration and supported social justice. It was his wish to see an end to poverty, prejudice and violence in the world. During WWII, he worked for the Civil Conservation Corps. An accomplished potter he participated in the early U.S. Crafts Movement. In 1957 Dale moved with his wife and four children to Fort Collins, Colorado. He managed the CSU Horticulture Farm. He is survived by his wife Lucille N. Anderson; children, Dara, Trent, Ren, and Sonja Anderson; grandchildren, Natasha Gibson, Trevor, Garrett, Justin, Bergen and Weston Anderson; daughters-in-law, Darlene Chovan Anderson, Pepper Schedin and son-in-law, Bob Essin. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the CSU Danforth Chapel, 701 Oval Drive on Saturday, March 13th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Dale Anderson requested that donations be made to Amnesty International, American Civil Liberties Union or other charities that improve the lives of others.
