Cynthia Deines, 68, of Laporte, Colorado, passed away June 15, 2017, at her home. Cynthia was born November 2, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ronald and Margaret Shay.
Cynthia attended school in Bird City, Kansas, through the fifth grade when her family moved to St. Francis, Kansas. She graduated from St. Francis Community High School in 1966. Following high school, she attended Ft. Hays State University.
Cynthia enjoyed keeping in touch with many relatives and friends throughout the country. She also loved to cook and entertain. Cynthia and husband, Ed enjoyed hosting family and friends for dinner and pool parties at their Colorado country home.
Survivors include her husband, Richard "Ed" Deines of Laporte; son, Tracy Shields and his wife, Kea of Windsor; daughter, Tammy Burkett and her husband, Nick of Ft. Collins; her mother, Margaret Shay and brother, Rodney Shay and his wife, Kay, of St. Francis; four grandchildren, Paige, Nicole, Jacob, and Tyler; and five great- grandchildren, Xavier, Cameron, Gavin, Dayzi, and Levi; two aunts and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Sharon Deines of Ft. Collins and Georgiana Deines of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two stepsons, Mike Deines of Greeley and Steve Deines of Ft. Collins; and six step- grandchildren, Ryan, Bryane, Jackson, Jaylee, Parker, and Grant.
Preceding Cynthia in death was her father, Ronald Shay.
Cynthia chose to be cremated. Two memorial services are being held in her memory, one at the Community Church in St. Francis and one at the Chapel of the Pines in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.
A Graveside Service will be held on July 13, 2017
