Consuelo "Connie" Castaneda
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother Consuelo "Connie" Castaneda. She went peacefully in her sleep to her Eternal Home in Heaven in the early hours of October 8th, 2022 after a battle with cancer. She was 92.
"Connie", the 2nd of 3 children was born in Sonora, TX on April 12, 1930 to the late Santiago and Adelina Cardona.
Survived by: Her 5 children, Ida (Felix) Trujillo, Fort Collins, Tino Jr. (Gaylene) Castaneda, Mineral Wells, TX, Lisa (Mike) Markano, Loveland, Susan (Michael) Rodriguez, Loveland, Jimmy Castaneda, Fort Collins, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, sister Lydia (Aurelio) Trujillo, Arvada.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Joventino "Tino", her parents, Santiago and Adelina Cardona, brother Arnulfo Cardona.
She married Joventino Castaneda on July 20, 1947 in Sonora, Tx.
They moved to San Angelo, TX in the early 1950's where there were better job opportunities for her husband. In 1964 they moved to Fort Collins, CO to be closer to her sister Lydia. Connie worked as a housekeeper. Over the years she met many wonderful people that grew to love and appreciate her, and she them. They knew they could always rely on her.
Connie enjoyed vacationing with her husband and children in the family motor home, cooking for her grandchildren, sewing, coloring, reading (she had a large book collection) going to garage sales and auctions in the summer, and caring for her many plants.
She was deeply loved and her presence will be greatly missed by all her children and grandchildren.
We love you so much mom, until we meet again, may you Rest in Peace.
A memorial service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St. Fort Collins, CO on Friday October 28, 2022 at 10:00am. Interment of ashes to follow at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, CO.
