Listen to Obituary
Connie Daylene McCormick, a long-time resident of Bellvue, passed away on January 31, 2014 at the Lemay Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Fort Collins. Connie was born on August 28, 1940 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Dayton and Margaret Schliep and soon after the family moved to Holyoke, Colorado. It was there in 1959, she met the love of her life and after just two dates they decided to marry. Raising four kids while living for a time in San Diego and then settling in Bellvue in 1976, she always made sure the home was filled with love, laughter, friends and family, and plenty of good food. As a working mother she also found time on numerous occasions to be a den mother, Girl Scout leader, team mother, room mother, and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed playing the piano, crafting especially crocheting, going to movies, cooking, fast cars and spending time with her cherished four grandchildren. In 1982, Connie was diagnosed with MS and battled the effects of the progressive disease for the rest of her life with a positive attitude and strong faith in God. She fought hard as the disease continued to take away her mobility, short-term memory, and strong independence. Although disappointed and angry at times, she never became bitter or resentful and was an inspiration to all those that remained close to her as she got worse and continued her fight against MS. To her children and their families, Connie gives her sense of humor, caring for others, love of good food and fellowship, and a strong and unwavering faith in God. She will be missed by all of those that have come in contact with her. Connie's husband and family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Lemay Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Facility for their professional and loving care, assistance, and friendship to Connie and the continuous support and friendship to her husband Mac. It will never be forgotten. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lyle "Mac" McCormick; daughter, Daylene Webb and her husband John; son, Lloyd McCormick; son John and his wife Stephanie; son Rodney and his wife Stephanie; her brother, Rodney Schliep and wife Paulette; granddaughter, Molly McCormick; and grandsons, Andrew Webb and his wife Shea, Tyler Webb, and Dayton McCormick. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at LifePoint Baptist Church, 900 East Prospect Road, starting at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at Holyoke Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks you make donations to the Marine Corps League Detachment #785, PO Box 557, Wellington CO 80549.
