Colleen was born on April 22, 1944 in Ft. Collins to Earl and Ruby Nichols of Wellington.
She was the youngest of five siblings. Colleen grew up in Wellington and attended school there. She was active in the Pep Club.
Colleen loved spending time swimming at the many lakes in Wellington and roller skating at Long's Pond Roller Rink. She was an excellent swimmer and roller skater.
She met her husband Melvin Masters at the roller rink and the two were married in September of 1961.
Together they had three children, Travis, Sherl, and Rodney. They moved around several times before settling in LaPorte, Colorado to raise their children. Colleen worked at Poudre Valley Hospital for 15 years as a housekeeper.
She volunteered at Spring Creek Nursing Home for several years. She enjoyed being around people.
Colleen loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandson, Tyler.
She also enjoyed camping and fishing, long road trips, and listening to Elvis Presley music.
Colleen attended a weekly luncheon with her childhood best friends Roberta Rumley, Marily Hodges, and Kathy Bridwell, as well as several others who would occasionally join them. Colleen always looked forward to spending time with "The Girls."
Colleen passed away on May 5th after a brief illness. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Ruby; her stepfather, John Rogers; brother Eugene "Nick" Nichols; sister Shirley Roark; husband Melvin Masters, and son Travis Masters.
She is survived by daughter Sherl Rask (Shayne) of Wellington, Colorado; son Rod Masters (Gina) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Grandson Tyler Simmons of LaPorte, CO; Sister Pauline Day (Roger) of Riverside, California, and sister Janice Graham of Ft. Collins, Colorado.
A celebration of life service will be held at Colleen's daughter's home, 16701 NCR 9, Wellington, CO on Saturday, May 30th at 1:00 pm
