Clyde D Gardner, age 88 of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 and went to be with his Lord and joined his wife Iris (Shivley) Gardner, along with other family and friends.
Clyde was born on February 8th, 1931 to James and Edith (Smith) Gardner in Yuma County. He graduated from Eckley High School in 1951.
Clyde and Iris were married in Wray, Colorado in 1953. To their union, two children were born, son Doyle and Daughter Connie. Clyde worked in Wray for Yuma County roads until the family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1959, where he went to work for the Colorado Department of Highway from 1959 to 1990. In Clyde's spare time he spent many hours a week mowing lawns with his son Doyle.
Clyde was the sixth of ten children, brothers Alfred, Kenneth (Charlette), Gene (Shirley), Eldon (Merrilyn), Sharon, Ervin, Steven (Pat), sisters Helen (Everitt) Warren, and Ester (Walt) Brophy. He is preceded in death by his wife Iris, father James, mother Edith, brothers Alfred, Gene, Eldon, Kenneth and sister Helen.
Survivors include brothers Sharon of Spokane, Washington, Ervin of Fort Benton, Montana, Steven of Wray, Colorado and sister Ester of Portland, Oregon. Also, his son Doyle (Danette) of Fort Collins, Colorado, daughter Connie (Mark) Kaufmann of Litchfield Park, Arizona.
Clyde and Iris's pride and joy were their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandson Brandon (Laura) Gardner of Wellington, Colorado, Dustin (Anna) Kaufmann of Thorton, Colorado. Granddaughters Chandy (Joe) Matthews of Severance, Colorado, Jayme (Chris) Tong of Broomfield, Colorado. Great Grandsons Colton and Hunter Matthews, Levi Gardner, Callaway Kaufmann and Ayden Tong. Great granddaughters Aili Gardner, Kylee and Lynzie Tong and Molly Kaufmann.
After retiring Iris and Clyde enjoyed traveling and going camping in Crystal Lakes near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. They shared their love of the mountains with family and friends and made wonderful memories. Clyde and Iris fostered many children in their home over the years and helped other families in need of their helping hands.
Clyde was a dedicated father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend doing anything he could to help family and friends. We will never forget him and all he meant to us and what he taught us about life. We will always hold the special memories we have with him in our hearts.
