Cloyd Garwood, age 102, passed away peacefully July 28th in Fort Collins, Colorado. Mr. Garwood was born October 20, 1904 in Provo, South Dakota to William and
Rachel Garwood. He grew up in northern Wyoming and was a 1922 graduate of
Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyoming. Following graduation he attended
Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois where he received a degree in Horology. He
married Dorothy Garretson on January 2, 1926 in Sheridan, Wyoming.. After graduating from Bradley University, Mr. Garwood began his career in the retail jewelry business. Over the years he owned jewelry stores in Canon City, Colorado and Estes Park, Colorado. He opened GarwoodGÇÖs Jewelry Store in Fort Collins in 1944. The store continues to retain the name, GarwoodGÇÖs Jewelers. Following his retirement in 1966, he was an avid golfer, an accomplished woodworking craftsman designing and making fine pieces of furniture and stained glass. His family believes the secret to his long and healthy life was his positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor. He belonged to the Elks Lodge #804, and the Masonic Lodge. For many years the GarwoodGÇÖs were active members of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996 and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include one son, Gary Garwood and wife Kathy of Fort Collins, a
daughter, Norma Jenrich of Sheridan, Wyoming, granddaughters Julie Hannon
Modesto, CA.; Elizabeth Dillman, Zionsville,IN., Amy Ketron, Castlerock, CO.; Robin Lemke, Durham, NC.; Kelly Brown, St. Paul, MN.; Sherri Gazdik, Sheridan, WY.; eleven great grandchildren and five great, great, grandchildren. He will be missed by his many friends at Parkwood Estates.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Parkwood Estates Retirement Residence,
2201 South Lemay Fort Collins on Thursday, August 2nd at 2:30 P.M. Interment
at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1180
Main Street, Suite #9, Windsor, CO. 80505. The support and loving care of
Hospice and the caregivers were greatly appreciated by the family. Friends send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com.
