Clara Alta Massey, 92, of Fort Collins, died April 6, 2007, at home. She was born in June 1914 in Decatur County, Morgan Township, near Lineville, Iowa, to John Buford Hollinger and Mary Elizabeth Duncan Hollinger. She graduated from Lineville High School in 1930. She married Sylvester Morris Massey on June 6, 1936, in Albany, Mo., and to this union seven children were born. She was a homemaker and country school teacher in Iowa. She moved to Loveland in 1960 and worked in retail for F.W. Woolworth until retirement. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles, crocheting and Sunday picnics. She is survived by three sons, Marvin of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Arlan of Loveland, and Keith of Windsor; and one daughter, Joyce Payne of Fort Collins; three daughters-in-law; Nelda, Glenna, and Carolyn; one son-in-law, Fred; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Lynch of Leon, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Hollinger of Moravia, Iowa, and Ardna Short of Flippin, Ark.; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvester; one son; two infant daughters; six brothers and one sister. Funeral service and interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County, McKee Cancer Center, Colorado Talking Book Library, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
