Clara Deines, 97, passed away on March 4, 2009. One of 11 children, Clara was born to Adam George Kaiser and Katharine Elizabeth Hoffner on Nov. 3, 1911, in Windsor. Clara married Sig Deines on Feb. 18, 1932, in Laramie, Wyo. They lived in Russell, Kan., for nearly 30 years before moving to Fort Collins in 1962. Although Clara was a homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed several years of employment with Poudre School District as an elementary school cook. She is survived by her son, Loren Deines; daughters, Jeanne Harland Glen and Kathy Mitchell Ron; sister, Esther Conselyea; her grandchildren, Lynn Harland Harmon, Leslie Harland and Jason Hill; as well as three great-grandchildren, Ian, Tera and Ayden. She is preceded in death by her husband, and nine of her siblings. Clara will be remembered for the wonderful care and love she provided her family, as well as her unsurpassed ability to make scrumptious kraut bierrocks. She was especially fond of evening walks with friends, sunflowers and all the colors of fall. During the last four years of her life, she resided at the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of the Rockies, where she received outstanding care from the entire staff, most notably Perla and Connie. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of the Rockies, 1020 Patton St., Fort Collins, CO 80524. At Clara's request, no services will be held.
