Christopher Lee Rohlfs

Christopher Lee Rohlfs, 39, passed away on August 14, 2026. He lived a life marked by loyalty, love, capability, and adventure, and his strength and spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Born November 4, 1986, Chris was an active and athletic child. Throughout his school years, he excelled at sports with a focus on soccer, even leading his team, Arsenal Gold, to the national championships during high school. He also wrestled, ran track, and was an avid skateboarder and snowboarder. In addition to his athletic abilities, Chris was a solid student academically and had many friends. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 2005.

As he moved into adulthood, Chris carried his determination and strength into every part of his life, meeting significant challenges with resilience and purpose.

Chris poured himself into his work and ultimately owned and managed his own company, Rohlfs Landscape Construction, which was a highly successful business for many years. He took great pride in the company he built, the quality of his work, and the relationships he formed with clients.

He also maintained his lifelong love of physical activity, practicing Shotokan Karate with family members, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Windsor, picking up skiing exceptionally quickly, finding peace and adventure on his road bike alongside his father and brother, and weightlifting at Genesis Health Club in Fort Collins. Movement and challenge were central to who Chris was; physical activity gave him purpose, peace, and a sense of freedom.

Chris was known by family and friends as a strong and capable person they could rely upon for support and help in any situation. He had a warm, steady presence that made people feel safe, supported, and understood. He also had a playful, silly side — he loved to laugh and joke with the people he cared about. He was always up for an adventure — hiking, camping, traveling, skiing, snowboarding, and other outdoor fun.

A thoughtful spiritual seeker, Chris explored many paths, including Buddhism, before ultimately returning to Christianity for strength and support during the difficult times in his life.

Chris was a devoted son who shared meaningful relationships with his parents. He brought them pride, joy, and many memories that will be cherished forever.

Chris was also a loving and devoted brother to his five siblings. He shared a unique bond with each of them — offering support, adventure, humor, and a steady strength that made him a central part of the family. His siblings will forever remember his loyalty, his courage, and the way he showed up for them in both ordinary moments and difficult times.

Chris held many meaningful relationships throughout his life, valuing deep connections and showing up with a smile.

Christopher is survived by: His mother, Linda Rohlfs; father, Rick Rohlfs; and stepmother, Perrie McMillen.

Siblings: Lauren (Rohlfs) Brown, Patrick Rohlfs, Leah Rohlfs, Reanne Townsend, and Travis Townsend.

Grandparents: Lee and Vickie Rohlfs, and Lilja Ann Sipos.

Siblings-in-law: Jake Brown (Lauren), Bree Kuchenski (Patrick), Hadassah Townsend (Travis), Coleson Breen (Reanne).

Aunts and uncles: Diane Balagat, Bobby Hostert, Gretar Hostert, Perry and Jenny Rohlfs, Kerrick, Tyler and Jacen McMillen.

Nieces and nephews: Marshall, Clark, Faye, and Sofia Brown; Innana, Istara, and Lev Townsend.

Chris’s beloved dog: Lucky.

Chris is preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Rohlfs; and by grandparents Judy Rohlfs, Joe Sipos, Paul and Mary Jo McMillen, and Halldor Hostert.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St., Fort Collins, on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be provided for social time after the service.
