Chris was born on March 9, 1970 at the Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He passed away on October 6, 2022 while being treated at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. Chris is survived by his parents, Ted and Julie Ebertsch, his sister, Laura Barden, her husband Brett, his niece, Alexis and two nephews, Trent and Zach.
Chris grew up in a family of Mediterranean descent, he was proud of his heritage. Joe Sparano his grandfather was Italian and Constantine Trovas his other grandfather was Greek. They provided the foundation for our family. Jim and Sue Sparano and Mary and Gary Oakley, aunts and uncles and their children provided Chris with support while growing up.
Summers were marked by many happy days spent at Grandpa Joe's and Grandma Betty's in Iowa City. Riding to and from the University of Iowa on Dad's shoulders to the homecoming parade would be a top "to-do", as would fishing for catfish at midnight on the Iowa River. Staying up late to watch Letterman with grandpa would also be a great learning experience for Chris.
Chris and his friends made several trips to Steamboat Springs during his high school years where they learned how to ski and experience all the wonderful things about Colorado. When this group finished college, many of them stayed in Colorado and made it their home, including Chris.
Over the past ten years or so, Chris became an excellent contractor doing carpentry, plumbing, heating and electrical work. He managed the facilities for an apartment complex in Fort Collins, Colorado.
On Saturday, October 1, 2022 Chris suffered a heart attack at his home. By the time emergency services arrived he had already been deprived of oxygen. Unfortunately, the damage was irreversible. We discovered that Chris was an organ donor. His organs are now helping several people survive. As a family, we are grateful that Chris chose to help others receive a new life. He will be missed.
We love you Mom and Dad
