Christine Annette Krysiak Dodd passed away on July 13, 2026 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was 77. Chris was in the process of moving to the Fort Collins area from Tennessee, where she had lived for the last 14 years.
A compassionate, creative and welcoming person, Chris frequently volunteered for her church, local libraries and activities helping the poor. She enjoyed a varied career as a journalist, often switching jobs as she moved with her husband to new assignments in different cities. Among the positions she held were magazine writer, newspaper reporter, speech writer and managing editor.
Chris was born in Parma, Ohio and was graduated from Nazareth Academy in Parma Heights and St. Bonaventure University, where she was awarded the 1970 Mark Hellinger Award given to the outstanding graduating senior in Journalism.
Over her career, she worked for the Tonawanda (N.Y.) News, Writer’s Digest Books and Magazine, The Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), and the Catholic Extension Society. At ALPA, she worked several years as a speechwriter for the association president, assisting with the preparation of Congressional testimony, op-eds and member correspondence.
In the spring of 1969, she asked Michael Dodd, a colleague at the campus newspaper The BonaVenture, to escort her to her junior prom. They have been together since. They were married in Parma in the fall of 1971 and had two daughters, Kathleen and Anne.
Chris was an avid reader (mostly non-fiction), active gardener/bird watcher and dedicated volunteer to the many causes she believed in. She and her husband lived in the cities or suburban areas of Buffalo, Cincinnati, Washington D.C., Chicago and Nashville.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters Kathleen Neal of Nashville and Anne Simmons of Timnath, CO; a brother, Timothy Krysiak of Olive Branch, MS and two grandsons. She was predeceased by her parents, Emanuel and Anna, and two brothers, Gerald and Raymond.
The family is considering an online celebration of life for later this summer.
