Christian James Mattos was born on Nov. 29, 1989, and died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008. He is survived by his mother, Candace Matos; his father, John V. Mattos; his brother, J.D. Mattos; and his sister, April "Rei" Mattos; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and countless friends. All who loved him dearly. Christian was the type of young man who was loyal to his family and friends and was always willing to give them a hug and tell them how much he loved them. He had a big, generous heart and an off-beat sense of humor. He could come up with something funny to say in just about any situation and his family and friends have countless stories to share about things he said or did. People who knew Christian are never going to forget him, as there wasn't any part of him that was forgettable. "We all love you Christian and will miss you for the rest of our lives." Christian had many talents, and plans for his future, none of which were out of his reach. He was a student at Front Range Community College and worked part time at Academy Gaming and at Game Stop. Recently, he had decided that he really enjoyed philosophy, but he also wanted to work helping other people, so he thought he might like being a firefighter by day and write philosophy at night. He also wanted to see something of the world and was intrigued by the thought of visiting Ireland and possibly working over there for a few months, so that he could get a good feel for the culture and the people. A service celebrating Christian's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Christian Mattos Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Friends may send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com.
