Chris Strauss, 50, passed away suddenly May 12, 2016, from a heart attack, while fly fishing on the Miracle Mile. Chris was born to Roger and Margaret Strauss August 12, 1965 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris' family moved to Fort Collins in 1977 and Chris attended Lesher Junior High and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1983. He met his wife Lori Lighthart in 1990 and they married September 1993. His best friend and hunting buddy, Savannah, was born in 1995 and his bold and quick witted little one, Skylar, was born in 2001. He took his girls hunting, fishing, and camping, teaching them shooting and survival skills that will hold memories for a lifetime. Chris worked at Budweiser for 26 years where he made many friends with his unique sense of humor and off color comments. Chris loved to travel, taking many trips to Mexico to scuba dive, Alaska to fish and numerous hunting trips. He was full of life and laughter and the world will definitely be dimmer without him. Chris' greatest joy was his family, especially his daughters. He is survived by his wife, Lori, daughters Savannah and Skylar, parents Roger and Margaret, brothers Mark (Kirsten) and Jason (Jocelyn), numerous nieces and nephews, and even his in laws loved him and miss him. A celebration of Chris' life will be held Saturday May 21st from 2:00-5:00 pm at Cheers, located in the Visitor's Center at Budweiser, 2351 Busch Drive, where everyone should be ready to share a story about Chris and/or dirty joke he told. To commemorate Chris' love of hunting and fishing, his daughters are asking everyone to wear camouflage. He will be forever missed and in our hearts.
