Chester "Chet" M. Stoskopf Jr., 76, of Fort Collins, died Dec. 11, 2005, at Poudre Valley Hospital. Mr. Stoskopf Jr. was born July 25, 1929, in Great Bend, Kan., to Chester M. Stoskopf Sr. and Georgia Louise Owen Stoskopf. Chet worked in the oil fields in Kansas then enlisted in the Navy. After serving in the Navy from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War, he stayed and worked as an aircraft mechanic in San Diego. Chet was then a truck driver for more than 30 years and retired in 1994 from United Van Lines. Chet has lived for 20 years in Fort Collins, moving from New Jersey. He met Ruby J. Yedo in 1997 when they took square dancing lessons together. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and seeing scenery and rock formations. Chet was a good man who loved animals and dogs. Surviving Chet is his significant other, Ruby J. Yedo, of Fort Collins; two sons, Leslie Stoskopf of Oceanside, Calif., and Danny Stoskopf; a sister, Patricia Louise Williams, of Coleville, Wash.; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and many friends. Chet is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Stoskopf. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Pastor Mark Hanke will officiate.
