Charlotte Mae Kennedy of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, August 22, 2014. Charlotte Mae Bomgaars was born in Sheldon, Iowa on February 20, 1925 to Magdalene and Harry Bomgaars. She attended school in Sheldon from kindergarten through one year of junior college. She graduated from St. Joseph Mercy College of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa in 1946. After working at the hospital for a year, Char moved to Colorado Springs and did general duty nursing at St. Francis Hospital. In January of 1948, she met Fred R. Kennedy and they were married June of 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived in Idaho Springs and Wray, Colorado before moving to Fort Collins in 1955.Charlotte was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, walking, reading, bowling, and volunteer work. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Collins since 1956. Her husband Fred preceded her in death in 2008. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Chatriand of Bozeman, MT; son, Mark Kennedy Laura of Castle Rock, CO; son, Craig Kennedy Mary of Ft. Collins; sister, Marlene Young Pete of Loveland, CO; and brother, Dave Bomgaars Willa of Summit, NJ; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St., Ft. Collins, CO Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Charlotte was passionate about hospice and wanted donations in lieu of flowers given to Pathways Hospice in Ft. Collins. Donations to the First United Methodist Church would also be appreciated. Both contributions may be sent to Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
