Charlie Cramer

Charles Rothburn Cramer was born Aug. 20, 1930, to Robert and Dora Lee Haynes Cramer in rural Cherryville, Kan. While he was growing up his family moved many times throughout Southeastern Kansas. Upon completing high school he started as a car salesman in Independence, Kan. Shortly thereafter he entered the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he returned to work as a salesman in a car dealership in Independence, Kan. He married Janette Garner on June 8, 1952. In 1959, Charles and Janette moved their family to Fort Collins, where he started to work as a salesman for Cooper Michael Motors Chevrolet dealership. In March of 1967, Charles started working for State Farm Insurance as an agent, where he earned many awards and business trips. He said many times that he enjoyed his time with State Farm. At his State Farm agency located on South College Avenue in Fort Collins, most people knew him as "Charlie." While working with State Farm, Charles and Janette became involved with and volunteered many hours with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Through his business and volunteer activities, he and Janette gained their love for travel. After retiring in March of 1993, he and Janette traveled extensively and spent many more hours volunteering with Wycliffe, as they both had a great desire to reach all peoples with the gospel of Jesus Christ in their native language. Charles is survived by his wife, Janette; daughters, Diane Brown Steven of Monett, Mo., and Lorri Smith Stephen of Mesa, Ariz.; sons, Gary Cramer Julie of Fort Collins and Brian Cramer Lynda of Aurora; as well as eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His quiver was truly full. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Lou Maher of Dallas, Texas, Linda Wills of Plano, Texas; and a brother, Jack Cramer of Gold Canyon, Ariz. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 900 E. Prospect Road. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Pastor Mark Hanke will officiate at the service. Those who desire may view Mr. Cramer from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Gifts can be sent to Wycliffe Bible Translators care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
