Listen to Obituary
Charles Edward Schneider (Chuck) passed away peacefully on February 10, 2019. A fourth generation native of Fort Collins, Chuck was born to Richard and Vesta Schneider on June 29, 1943, at PVH. Chuck lived on Hospital Road (Lemay Avenue) until marrying Linda Waldo, his wife of 52 years on March 19, 1966. After graduating from CSU, Chuck worked as a shop/tech ed teacher, also teaching outdoor living skills and sciences, at Fort Collins HS, Rocky Mountain HS and Wellington Junior High. Chuck also taught women's auto mechanics at Front Range Community College. He often got up in the wee hours to go on epic fishing trips all around Colorado and Wyoming. The family spent summers camping in the remote wilderness in the Rawah and Gould areas. Chuck was the "Fish Whisperer" and loved beaver pond fishing - his children lost many shoes in the depths of the unknown beaver runs on those journeys! He was an avid gardener and prided himself on taking care of his half-acre garden that supplied fruits and vegetables to friends and family. Chuck took on cooking in the 1980s and became quite the chef making up his own delicious creations using his homegrown garden ingredients. His salsas were sought after by all – Red Death (fresh raspberry and habanero) and the best pico de gallo. After retirement, Chuck shared his love of gardening and fishing with his greatest joys – his grandchildren. Chuck had an uncanny sense of humor and always had those around him cracking up over his corny jokes and stories of adventure from his own life, even after he suffered a massive stroke in 2011. His chuckle will be dearly missed. Chuck is survived by his wife, Linda, his children, Rhonda Smith (George), Christina Schneider, Adam Schneider, Joe Domanik, grandchildren, Callia and Cooper Domanik of Fort Collins, Brooklynn Schneider of Kingsland, AR, brother David (JoAnn) of Wellington. He will be fondly missed by many nieces and nephews including Lisa Abraham of Sammamish, WA, who was like a daughter to him.

A special thank you from the family goes to Tom Merrow for the wonderful care and laughter he provided since Chuck's stroke, to physical therapists Ruth Rice and Kathy Spare, to Dr. David Abbey and staff - Kathy, Barb and Chris - for their incredible attention to Chuck's well-being and to his dear friend, Eddie Fulcomer, for his unwavering loyalty and regular visits with Chuck over the years.

Join us for services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Fort Collins. A celebration of Chuck's life at The Agave Room (above The Rio) to follow. To honor Chuck, stand up for someone when they need it, teach a person how to fix something themselves or take someone fishing.
