Charles W. Habel, 85, passed away Nov. 23, 2010. Chuck was born in Denver to Walter G. Habel and Marie J. Habel. He grew up on farms in Aurora and Strasburg. He graduated from South High School in Denver and attended Colorado A&M, now CSU. He joined the Air Force in January 1944 where he served as a tail gunner on a B-17. He married the love of his life, L. Jane Lebsock in 1948. They were married for 59 years until Janie�s death in 2008. Chuck and Janie moved back to Fort Collins in 1966 to start their own business, Poudre General Tire. After retirement Chuck and Janie travelled extensively with family and friends. They were members of the Lake Powell Yacht Club and of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International. Chuck is survived by three children, Mark Habel and wife Linda, Christine Crego, Robert Habel and wife Karen, all of Fort Collins; six grandchildren, Barry Habel and wife Nicole, Julie Stout and husband Tad, Aaron and Dana Crego and Zachary and Michael Habel; three great grandchildren, Wyatt and Rylee Habel and Gunnar Stout; sister, Anna Marie Cook, sister-in-law, Bonnie Habel, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dan & Dorothy Gabrielson and special friends of the LaMar�s Coffee Crew and the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Janie, his parents, Walter & Marie, and brother, Robert. A memorial service with military honors by the Ft. Collins All Veterans Honor Guard, will be held, 2 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
