Charles Francis (Chuck) Nook passed away suddenly March 3, 2015. Chuck was born August 7, 1948 in South Haven, Michigan to Lawrence and Lorraine Nook. He played football, basketball, and baseball at L.C. Mohr High School, graduating in 1966. Chuck attended Ferris State College on a football scholarship where he played on the only undefeated football team ('68). He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1971 with a degree in business and physical education. He married the love of his life, Deborah French, on May 27, 1972. Chuck taught school for 8 years in Colorado and then worked for Nalco Chemical for 5 years in Tulsa, OK. The majority of his professional career was as Finance Manager for Tynan's Nissan. After retirement, Chuck was an instructor and classroom teacher for Mtn. States Drivers Education. Above all else, Chuck cherished his family, always prioritizing his time and attention to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Affectionately called Pops by his four granddaughters, he was the apple of their eye. He was a steadfast and loving husband and father who lead by his solid values, his love of God, and his work ethic. Chuck was a consummate Notre Dame fan, attested to by his broad collection of Notre Dame memorabilia and his handy memory of facts and figures regarding the Irish football program. His annual fall trip to South Bend for a Notre Dame game was one of his greatest joys. Chuck will be greatly missed by his dear family and innumerable friends who will hold this big-hearted man close in many ways. Chuck is survived by his wife, Deborah; their three children, Meggan (Darin) Babnick, Brendan (Vanessa) Nook, and Sean (Erin) Nook; and granddaughters, Emily and Claire Babnick and Ella and Ruby Nook. Also surviving are his brothers: Joseph (Sherry), Thomas (Sharon), James (Sally), John (Renee), Patrick (Kathy), and his sister, Nancy (Richard Stewart). Chuck also leaves his brother-in-law Barry (Kathy) French, sister-in-law, Carolyn (John) Marr and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Michael.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 6, 2015, 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. A reception will immediately follow in Seton Hall.
