Celia "Norma" Hummell
1923-2009 Celia Norma Hummell, age 85, of Fort Collins, passed away on May 26th, after a short battle with Leukemia in the Poudre Valley Hospital. Norma, as she was known by her family and friends, was born on June 19, 1923 at Speed, Kansas to George and Emma Colburn. She was a Webster High School graduate and also graduated from Hays College. Norma worked as a teacher in Rooks Co. and at nursing homes in both Kansas and Colorado. She worked 22 years at Teledyne Water Pik in Fort Collins, she was proud of the fact that she had worked the last 13 years there without missing a day for sick leave. Norma married Harry Cross on July 5, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1953. She remarried Carl Hummell on Oct. 1, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1996. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; Ivil, Vance, and John Colburn, and three sisters; Hazel Bray, Leota Campell, and Susie Reeder. Norma is survived by a daughter, Judy Jones and husband Pat of Westminster, a son, Harry E. Colburn Sr. and wife Charlotte of Fairport, KS, a son, Harold Hummell of Castro Valley, CA, a son, Carl Hummell of the home, and a daughter, Karla Jean Hummell also of the home, a sister Vesta Miller and husband Stan of Arvada and a brother George Colburn and wife Linda of Stockton, KS. She was honored to be called grandma by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two cats, Precious and Mouse and her dog Teddy Bear. Funeral services will be Monday, June 1, at 10:00 at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Collins. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mrs. Hummell on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
