Cecelia Evangeline Mondragon

Cecilia Evangeline "Vangie" Mondragon, 83, of Ft. Collins, moved on to rest in the house of God on November 11, 2015 at a local nursing home. Vangie was born March 20, 1932 in Ft. Collins to Lebrado "Lee" and Eva Martinez. She lived most of her life in Ft. Collins. She married Joe G. Mondragon on June 9, 1954.

Vangie had many occupations throughout her life. She was known as the "Food Stamp Lady" for many years. She was a life member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and the choir at the church. She was also a member of the Alonzo Martinez American Legion Auxiliary. She was also one of the original members of the 'Spanish Student Aide Committee' which later became the Alonzo Martinez Scholarship Fund. She enjoyed keeping Grandma Eva's flowers looking beautiful, she also enjoyed creating beaded angels for everyone to enjoy, and making rosaries, she wanted everyone to have one. And she loved church and praying.

Survivors include her children Joseph Lee Mondragon and wife Olga of Wellington, Andrew James Mondragon, Kathy and husband Joe Lucero and Theresa Rose Mondragon-Florez all of Ft. Collins; three brothers, Anthony Martinez of Thornton, Phil Martinez of Ft. Collins, and Robert Martinez of Aurora; two sisters, Matilda Maxwell of Windsor and Gloria Maxwell of Ft. Collins, 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Vangie in death are her parents; husband Joe Mondragon, and two children Robert Dean and Patricia Marie Mondragon.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, 12:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Both services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
