Catherine I. Fisher of Fort Collins passed away April 24, 2010, at Columbine West Health and Rehab Center. Catherine was born January 28, 1924, in Mercer County, Illinois to Merle Spurgeon and Mary Titterington Spurgeon. After graduating from high school she attended Bradley University and lived in Chicago, for a time. She was visiting her parents in Colorado when she met Harold Fisher, a Fort Collins native. At the time of their meeting in 1945, she was helping her parents run the Columbine Resort up the Poudre Canyon. They were married on December 28, 1946 in Rock Island, Illinois. They lived in California, Iowa, and New Mexico before returning to Colorado. They spent many years in Lakewood, Colorado raising their three children. In 1968 they returned to Fort Collins. For many years Catherine worked with her husband at F&M Real Estate and then Fisher Real Estate. She was a bright and very astute business woman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; a sister, Betty Garner; and an infant brother, Joseph. Survivors include a son, Steven C. Fisher Laura Luke of Fairfax, Virginia; daughters, Michelle D. Fisher Ron Arnone of Moorpark, California, Stephanie I. Hill David of Fort Collins; four grandchildren, Lora Bureau Chris; Matthew Hill fiancé, Nichole, Brandon and Andrew McHargue; and a great grandson who was the love of her recent life, Charlie Bureau. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane Buchen Phil and brother-in-law, Jim Garner; sister in law, Elinor Fisher and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Columbine West for their wonderful care; with a special thank you to Peggy Bunke, CNP. Also, many thanks are given to caregivers, Gloria Neal and Domi Jones whose care allowed her to remain at home and gave her a high quality of life. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Blessed John 23rd University Center, 1220 University Ave on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. A Private Graveside Service is planned. Father Don Willette will officiate the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
