Carl J. Wood, Capt., USMC Ret., was born in El Dorado, Kan., on July 26, 1920, and died at Poudre Valley Hospital on March 25, 2007, of lung cancer. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 16 and served for 24 years. Carl married Olive Winey in 1942. After Olive's death, he married Florene Kellogg in 1947, and they celebrated their 42nd anniversary prior to her death in 1990. He is survived by daughters, Carlean Schneidmiller and son-in-law Ken Schneidmiller, and Brenda Wood; grandchildren, Curt and Teresa Nelson, Cresta and Jim Wold, Bethany and Eric Severa; great-grandchildren, Haley, Jayme, Haven and Mason; and numerous nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law in Colorado and Nebraska. Graveside services to be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
